Metal Wine Racks

Metal Wine RacksNo matter what size your home is and no matter how little space you have available, there will always be a way to fit a wine rack into your living and cooking area. Most modern kitchens will have a built in wine rack if desired at the time, but extra racks and alternative wine storage can easily be arranged around your existing fittings.

The most common wine rack is a simple one dozen rack either in pine and steel or mahogany and steel, although some cheaper pine editions are available to buy which you can self assemble at home. These racks will fit into any space in a kitchen or garage or anywhere you have the space for them. Other variations on this theme can also be bought, such as chrome racks with circular units that hold the bottles. If you don’t have a spot for a square rack then a triangular or irregular shaped wine rack may be the answer. These can be fitted easily into archways and under stairways and have even been known to appear in a wine lover’s bathroom!

Wine Racks

But if space isn’t your problem and you are lucky enough to have room for a wine cellar, the things to consider when arranging your wine are likely to be temperature and general conditions.

How to arrange your wine is really down to personal preference and will dictate much of the look and feel of a wine cellar, but conditions and temperature are the things which will concern a serious wine lover the most.

A plinth running the bottom of the racks in a cellar will not only add to the look, but will also keep the bottles away from the floor of the cellar.

A good wine cellar should be dark, cold, well ventilated but with no extreme changes in temperature. Many old houses in France were built with cellars designed specifically for storing wine and held a constant temperature, but unless a house was built with these specifications in mind, it’s unlikely any modern houses would boast such conditions for a wine cellar.

The answer to this problem is probably air conditioning. An air conditioning unit can keep wine in the perfect conditions, helping the wine to reach its full potential. With this in mind it’s easy to see how this concept can be brought out of the cellar and into any area a wine lover has to use. With most modern homes not housing cellars at all, many people are converting garages and out buildings into wine storage areas.

If you have a large kitchen and are looking for something a bit different, there are some beautiful and quite special wine racks available to buy which will create a unique experience for a wine lover in their own home.

Wine cabinets come in a variety of woods and can house anything from 12 bottles to 112 bottles. These cabinets can perform the function of a simple wine rack in a kitchen or dining area or can be an item of furniture in themselves. The larger of the wine cabinets resemble a Welsh dresser and are a beautiful way to display wine.

But for anyone who enjoys tasting wine as part of a social event, or just for the love of it, and has the space available, a centre island wine unit is not only practical, but also looks stunning in the home. These units are ideal for tasting wines as the bottles are arranged to create a perfect square, allowing all wines to be easily seen and chosen. The unit is then topped with a table, available in a variety of different woods, making this the ultimate way to enjoy wine at home with friends.
