 | It is important to choose planters for your garden carefully. Planters should attract the attention of visitors. Use them beside garden benches, on your deck and patio and beside entrances for visual impact. Mix and match planters by color, shape, size and texture. There’s a wide variety of planters on the market today, making choices much easier for gardeners to find exactly what they are looking for.
In order to compliment the look of your garden, choose planters in various shapes, sizes and textures. This will create visual interest and add impact to your yard and garden. If you want to add continuity to an area, plant the same color and species of plants in different containers. If you desire each planter to have its own distinct personality, plant different plant species in each pot. For an informal look, add daisies or other tall flowers to the planter.
Choose decorative planters to add impact to your garden. Planters come in all types of whimsical designs; for a water theme use frog, swan or turtle planters. If you desire a more elegant look, choose angels or Grecian planters.

Decorative Planters
When purchasing planters be sure they have drainage holes. Plants in containers need to be watered frequently. Drainage holes prevent over watering, as excess can drain easily.
Choose planters that will compliment each other. When adding planters to an area be careful to position them so as not to make your garden look too busy. Choose planters and plants that will bring a sense of balance, harmony and symmetry into your garden and bring out its inner beauty.
To create a draping effect in a corner of your garden, plant nasturtium or vines in tall urn planters. Smaller plants give the impression of being lost in a large area, while large plants in small areas are too over-powering.
Planters and window boxes can add beauty, color, form and texture to areas that might otherwise look drab and lifeless. Planters and container gardens bring life, style and color into areas that have no appeal.
Be original and use your imagination when adding planters to your garden. Plant pansies or violas in an old work boot. Pick up an old half barrel or washtub at a flea market or yard sale and fill it with your favorite blooms. Use the frame of an old metal bed, creating a beautiful display of flowers between the head and foot boards.
Add dimension to your garden by using your imagination and several unique planters to create visual impact and to bring beauty and personality into your garden.
