Christmas Yard Decorations

Christmas Yard DecorationsIf you're looking for holiday yard art, you can hire a designer or a holiday decorating service to construct fabulous Christmas scenes and outdoor displays for your home or business, or you can create your own. There is a vast array of gorgeous holiday decorations available that are made specifically for outdoor use. Some are lighted, some are not, but all are made to withstand winter weather.

From intricate fiber optic items to animated outdoor displays that depict carolers singing, elves making toys, or animals watching over the manger in a life size Nativity Scene, there is something for every taste.

If you like cute, whimsical items, you can select Santa and other favorite characters from TV Christmas specials or look for lighted Snoopy or Sponge Bob displays. If you prefer something whimsical on the large side, look for giant inflatable items, such as snowmen and reindeer.

For a simple, elegant look, opt for icicle lights or other monochromatic lighting. Silhouette pieces, garlands, and large wreaths also make attractive outdoor displays, along with simple lighted signs that says Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. You can also have custom signs made with any holiday greeting you choose.

To create custom outdoor displays, select items that can be used alone or can be combined with other items to create a one of a kind look. Most large items come complete with tie downs to keep them in place and to protect them from damage or from causing injury. Safety is important, so also make sure that any lighted options you choose for your outdoor display measure up to safety standards for outdoor use. Also, check exterior outlets and make sure they are free from corrosion before plugging in lights or outdoor displays.

If you prefer a homemade display, consider making a giant Christmas card from plywood. You will need a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood, a couple of sets of hinges, and some paint. Cut the plywood in half, attach with hinges so it will stand open like a card, and decorate to your liking. For a three-dimensional effect, paint on a Christmas tree and hot glue plastic ornaments to the tree or add a string of outdoor lights.

Whatever you decide, make sure you have fun with it. Create your outdoor display soon, so you can enjoy it for as long as possible before the holiday season is over. And, of course, have a safe and happy Christmas.
