What is the direct origin of Santa's Elves? There exist many a theory as to the origin of these long-nosed and pointy-eared elves who wear green outfits. These faithful Santa's assistants are said to be the descendants of wood elves. But again this is only theory, as nothing has been proven as to their exact origin. It is sometimes theorized, however, that Santa's Elves are copied in appearance almost exactly from a legendary elf named Master Elf.
No matter what their exact origin is or was, the one thing known for sure is that Santa's Helpers are some of the most beloved elves around. These happy, hard-working elves are loved by children through the popular folklore that is connected with Santa Claus in the USA, Canada, and Britain.
Santa's Helpers are important to Santa Claus too. These "worker bees" are the ones who make toys and other gifts for close to two billion children worldwide. They do not punch a time clock, and work diligently for Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the children of the world before retreating to the suburbs just on the outskirts of the North Pole to recover from Christmas's frenzy.
