4th of July DecorationsPatriotic décor items can be part of your home year round as well. Have a little fun with someone’s political leanings, by gifting them with an American flag donkey figurine, or a patchwork elephant figurine, featuring the distinctive red, white and blue patterns of the American flag. And don’t forget the children. For little ones, there are patriotic eagle nightlights, spreading their wings and brightness in the dark. Pennies will get saved faster for fireworks, when they have an American flag patchwork teddy bear bank to put them in. Salute your country every day, with patriotic flower vases, patriotic drink coasters, a wall plaque wood flag, or even a patriotic birdhouse, ready for your feathered friends in its red, white and blue décor. Nothing is more fun than getting festive for a holiday, and no occasion brings out the red, white and blue in everyone, than the 4th of July! Did You Know? -John Quincy Adams, and Thomas Jefferson, having served their country as president, renewed their friendship in later life, both of them determined to live until the 50th anniversary of their signing the Declaration of Independence. John Quincy Adams achieved that goal, dying on July 4, 1826 at the age of 92. His last words were “Jefferson still survives.” But unknown to the ailing Adams, Jefferson himself had died the same day, only a few hours earlier. -In 1992, what appeared to be a copy of the Declaration of Independence appeared out of nowhere. Called in to inspect it for authenticity, Certified Document Examiner, Emily Will, declared the copy to be not quite the real thing…but not a fake either. It turned out to be one of the few surviving copies of a commemorative issue that was produced in 1876. Her findings were based on the fact that the process for making the paper used, did not exist in 1776. | ||||||||
